Joseph Latek
President/ Licensed Funeral Director/ Embalmer
Joe Latek always knew he wanted to help people as a funeral director. He started working in the business at the young age of fourteen – when his grandfather owned and operated the family business… Mosinski Funeral Home on E. 65th St. in Cleveland, OH. Joey was hooked. He watched his grandfather not only coordinate funerals, take care of employees, and manage budgets… most importantly, he watched how well his grandfather worked with families at their most delicate of times. Joe learned, first hand, the importance of a funeral director’s role; to comfort, help, and serve.
Joe graduated with a Communications degree from John Carroll University in 1996 and went on to study at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. In 1997, he received a degree in Embalming and Funeral Directing from PIMS.
Following his PIMS graduation, Joe mastered a year of apprenticeship, then became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in 1998. He then began working for Rybicki & Son Funeral home in Garfield Heights and Broadview Heights. In 2010, Joe became the manager of the Garfield Heights location.
In 2015, Joe bought Rybicki & Son Funeral Homes. He renamed it Latek & Rybicki Family Funeral Homes. It was truly a full circle moment for Joe, as the Broadview Heights location was originally built by his grandfather in 1983 (and later sold to the Rybicki’s). Joe now has a piece of his grandfather with him as he helps to serve people in the greater Broadview Heights community and beyond.
Originally from Brecksville, OH, that is still where he, his wife Shannon, and their two children, Alexis and Luke reside today. In his spare time, you will find Joe with his family, friends, or rooting for the Browns.
